Read Philippians 2:3-8
Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others as more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests but also to the interests of others. Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Jesus Christ, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.
Prayer: God calls us to love others the way that he loved us. Jesus laid down his life to save us from the consequences of a broken world; to give us a future and a hope. But he didn’t stop there. Now, he calls us to be willing to lay down our own lives – our comforts, and our inwardly focused desires – to love others selflessly, as well. Pray that God would grow your heart for the lost and the broken, and ask him for opportunities to help them.
